There’s a little piece of Corby forever in South Africa thanks to the generosity of local company The 1:1 Diet
20th April, 2020: A school in South Africa in dire need of equipment was helped by staff and independent consultants from The 1:1 Diet by Cambridge Weight Plan, based in Corby, Northamptonshire.
The 1:1 Diet took 53 of its top-performing consultants on an incentive trip to South Africa, to reward them for their dedication and commitment over the past year.
During the trip, the group visited Tswaedi Secondary School in Ledig, North West South Africa, to help provide new external signage for the school as theirs was faded and worn out.
The 1:1 Diet, which has its head office in Hunters Road, Corby, also helped provide equipment for the school’s 450 pupils, aged 11 to 18.
The 1:1 Diet’s Managing Director, Chris McDermott, said: “We’re honoured and privileged to help Tswaedi Secondary School and to present them with three brand new signs. We’ve had a fantastic reception and we want to thank everyone for being so welcoming and hospitable.”
The visiting group also rolled up their sleeves and painted the interior of the main school. The children gave their own personal touch by adding different coloured handprints, described by the headteacher, Hermina Tabane, as hands of hope.
She said: “The donations have been so helpful, especially items such as notepads and chalk, which were in short supply. The classroom has already been in use and enjoyed by the children daily, despite also being used for exams. It’s the pupils’ favourite classroom!”
