Manchester-based slimmer is celebrating a milestone with The 1:1 Diet by Cambridge Weight after maintaining his loss for more than four years
Welder Jack Nixon, of Manchester, spent his 25th birthday drinking pints of water as his mates knocked back the pints of ale, determined to lose weight to be a better role model for his children.
After welcoming his first son, Charlie, in 2014, and with a history of heart disease in the family, Jack decided to make radical changes to his diet and has now maintained his weight loss for more than four years with The 1:1 Diet by Cambridge Weight Plan.
Jack said: “Finding out my family history put me at greater risk of heart disease, and seeing the increased media coverage surrounding diabetes, made me really worry about my health. At 17 stone, I was at risk of serious health issues.
“It was welcoming our baby boy into our lives which finally gave me the motivation to make a change to my lifestyle. I soon realised that being a father was a huge responsibility and I couldn’t teach my son to be healthy if I wasn’t practicing this myself.”
Jack decided to get in touch with his local consultant after seeing his mum’s weight drop and her confidence skyrocket on The 1:1 Diet weight loss plan. He knew The 1:1 Diet by Cambridge Weight Plan would work for him the minute he met consultant, Karen Beebee.
“The one-to-one support I received from Karen was invaluable to my weight loss journey. Her positive attitude was motivating and inspiring and she helped me to stay focused on my goals – I couldn’t have done it without her!

“On my 25th birthday, I went out with my friends in Manchester and they were so shocked that I drank a pint of water in every pub, while they all had beers – none of them thought I could do it. It is thanks to Karen that I was able to stay on plan, even through all of the birthday celebrations.
“My life is completely unrecognisable since losing five stone, and despite everyone telling me that I would never keep the weight off, I’ve proved them all wrong and have maintained for four years and counting.
role model to both of my sons and that is my biggest achievement of them all.”
Jack was also shortlisted in The 1:1 Diet’s annual Slimmer Awards.
