This International Women’s Day, we caught up with our Woman of the Year, Sharon Head. We spoke all about her incredibly inspiring journey, from dieter to Consultant, and what her goals are for the future. So, grab a cuppa and enjoy…
First Things First, What is International Women’s Day & When is It?
Taking place on 8th March every year, International Women’s Day is a day spent celebrating the social, economic, cultural and political achievements of women from around the world.
It’s also an opportunity to highlight the biggest challenges women (and those who identify as female) face in the modern world. From misogyny to lack of pay transparency, it’s the chance to shout about the issues women want to act on today, so we continue to create a fairer, more balanced world for all.
That’s why we’re focusing on one of our most inspiring women - someone who’s overcome challenges to create a business that continues to flourish.
Right, First Question: What Did You Do Before Becoming a Consultant?
I’ve still got a full-time job - 24 hours a week, working 3 days a week doing IT audits for the Land Registry. I’ve actually worked for the Civil Service for over 22 years, working in HR, recruitment and finance. I started this as a side hustle, and it’s taken off more than I expected if I’m honest. I’d love to be able to give up my job in the future.
Why Did You Become a Consultlant?
I was on my own weight loss journey, I had Gemma (Mrs Superstar) she was nurturing me and along the way, she said I’d be an amazing Consultant with my coaching experience. She laid the seed. By the time I’d got to the point where I’d lost 8 stone, Gemma told me at a Team Summer Spectacular “You’re going to do your Consultant training next week” So the decision was made for me! From there I started putting together my processes over a couple of weeks. Started seeing dieters, set up a web page, and before I knew it my dieter base just continued to grow and grow.
I also can’t recommend being consistent on social media enough. After winning Woman of the Year, I posted on Facebook and soon started receiving more and more dieters.
What Are The Goals For Your Business?
My first goal will be to continue helping my dieters to achieve their goals. Offering continued support and guidance so they know they can actually do it. They know that I know how they feel. Before this diet, nothing had really worked for me. So, if I can grow my dieter base and bring my personal spending up so I can go for Gold Champion, that would be amazing.
In terms of business plans, I’m actually planning on putting advertisements in my local magazine - so fingers crossed it works!
What's Your One Piece of Advice to Any Consultants Starting Out?
Don’t put too much pressure on yourself. Focus on setting up your processes. Put your energy into your new dieters - make it into the best experience for them. Things will move organically. Trust in the process - stay in your own lane - focus on what you’re doing. Get the message out there - be active on social media. I got 4 or 5 new dieters from a single Facebook post after winning Woman of the Year.
