Adults in the UK will consume 8.88 billion calories on mince pies in the run up to Christmas* according to a new study.
The survey of 2,000 adults, commissioned by The 1:1 Diet by Cambridge Weight Plan, revealed more than 63 per cent of UK residents are choosing to consume more food and drink than normal and over-indulging in festive treats in the weeks running up to Christmas.
The 1:1 Diet by Cambridge Weight Plan has launched some scrumptious and guilt-free products which will be available through independent diet consultants in the run up to Christmas.
The Mince Pie Shake and Festive Bars have been added to The 1:1 Diet’s product list for a limited time only, allowing slimmers to get a taste of Christmas, without the excess calories. So, while consuming what would normally be a high calorie Christmas treat, slimmers can enjoy something which is helping the weight loss process as part of The 1:1 Diet’s steps plan.
Mark Gilbert, Nutritionist at The 1:1 Diet by Cambridge Weight Plan, said: “It’s important to enjoy the festive period and celebrate with friends and family, and who doesn’t love a mince pie? It can be difficult to find a good balance though, with so many tempting treats put in front of us when the Christmas season is upon us.
“Getting our fix of festive flavours needn’t leave you feeling guilty, with the launch of the new products, which have proven incredibly popular with our dieters and consultants.”

Notes to editors
The 1:1 Diet by Cambridge Weight Plan’s roots can be traced back to the 1960s, when biochemist Dr Alan Howard started to research the perfect diet. This resulted in the launch of the Cambridge Diet in 1984.
In 2009 the Cambridge Diet was rebranded to Cambridge Weight Plan. The business started its Employee Ownership journey in 2010.
Today, it is a passionate and profitable group of people who provide support, flexible weight loss plans, products and business opportunities that help other people achieve their goals. Whatever those goals may be. The company won the Employee Owned Business of the Year category at the 2019 Employee Ownership Awards.
Cambridge Weight Plan undertook a major rebrand in 2018, becoming The 1:1 Diet by Cambridge Weight Plan, and invested in a multi-million pound integrated campaign which sat across cinema, TV, social, digital and print.
In the UK, the company sells and markets The 1:1 Diet by Cambridge Weight Plan brand through independent Cambridge Weight Plan consultants. In October 2019 there were 5,500 Consultants across the country offering slimmers one-to-one support to help guide them through their weight loss and into weight maintenance.
The 1:1 Diet by Cambridge Weight Plan’s meal replacement programme (MRP) uses formula food soups, shakes, bars and other foods to replace conventional foods, thus giving a lower dietary energy intake than on a conventional reducing diet.
