For as long as I can remember, I’ve battled with my weight. Growing up, I was always “the bigger friend,” the one who made jokes about myself before anyone else could, pretending I didn’t notice the stares or the quiet judgement. Living with PCOS and thyroid issues didn’t just affect my body—it shaped my confidence, my energy, and the way I saw myself. Food slowly became my comfort, even though it left me feeling worse, and dealing with chronic heartburn made everything harder.  

After having my two children, I stopped trying to lose the baby weight because I was exhausted & overwhelmed, with two girls everyday felt like a battle. I reached a size a 22. My back hurt constantly, my iron was low, the headaches were relentless, and people’s unkind comments crushed me. I refused photos and avoided mirrors.  

Eventually something inside me shifted. I realised I deserved better and so did my family. I WANTED MY LIFE BACK.  

I’ve lost 4 stone and gained my life back. Then something beautiful happened: this year, I climbed a mountain range in Portugal with my family. A year earlier, I would’ve laughed at the idea. But there I was on that mountain—breathless and overwhelmed with gratitude. If I hadn’t committed to changing my life, that powerful/ emotional moment would never have existed.
