Thrive in 2025
On top of the 4-Week Reset challenge, there are so many other ways you can help yourself to thrive in 2025. To help get you inspired, we’ve listed 5 ways you can transform your well-being in the new year.
Get more sleep
The kids are in bed, and all you want to do is sit back and binge-watch your favourite TV series. Or maybe you’ve got a lot of work on, and just can’t seem to switch off. Whatever’s stopping you from marching up those hills to bed, you need to stop and start prioritising sleep.
But why is sleep so important?
Well, according to Bupa, a great night’s sleep can help improve your concentration, help you maintain a healthy weight and even help to keep your heart healthy. So, set a target of getting at least 8 hours of sleep and make sure you get to bed early enough - you’ll really feel the benefits the next day.
Put your phone down
We’re all guilty of it - after a long day of work or chasing after the kids, all you want to do is ‘doom scroll’ on your phone. But could it be doing more harm than good? Research shows that spending too much time online, specifically social media, can cause depression, anxiety and loneliness. Just remember, comparison is the thief of joy. So before you reach for your phone, maybe suggest a board game with the family, or going for a walk with friends.
Exercise regularly
Exercise isn’t just about losing weight, it’s about getting your body moving, your blood pumping and keeping your mind energised. Losing weight is just an added bonus. According to the NHS, it’s essential to be physically active if you want to live a healthy, long life. Not only is it great for you physically, but research has shown that being active can boost self-esteem, mood and sleep quality. So go on, pop your trainers on and get moving.
Take care of your mental health
January has got a bed rep for being a bit, well, depressing. All the sparkle of Christmas is gone and you’re faced with days like Blue Monday, instead. So, how can you banish those bad vibes?
Get outside
Well, for a start, get outside. Exposure to natural light and (chilly) fresh air can help to release serotonin, a hormone that boosts your mood. Not only that, but sunlight helps you to maintain vitamin D levels, which are crucial for improving your energy levels. Although, with January’s shorter days, it’s always good to take a vitamin D supplement too.
Practise mindfulness
On top of fresh air, practising the act of mindfulness is also incredibly beneficial for your mental health. But how do you do it? Well, mindfulness can be done anywhere, all you need to do is focus your mind on something small. That could be bird song while you’re out on a walk, or your breathing as you lie down. Try it and see how you feel.
Eating healthily
When it comes to New Year resolutions, this is a bit of a cliché, but it’s one change that can really help to transform your life. After a month of festive indulgence (hello, mince pies) January is the perfect time to switch up your diet.
