Corby-based firm pledges support for staff in local care homes and Age UK

6 April 2020: The 1:1 Diet by Cambridge Weight Plan has pledged its support for front line staff in local care homes this week, by supplying them with complimentary care packages.

After seeing all the amazing work carried out by front line staff up and down the country, The 1:1 Diet, based in Corby, wanted to help at a local level by donating free snack packs filled with some of the brand’s nutritious products.

Each pack has been carefully prepared and contains a range of healthy, nutritious snacks, treats and helpful items including meals, protein-rich fava beans and a water bottle to ensure staff have the energy they need to continue their work, as the current situation often means they don’t have time to look after themselves.

Chris McDermott, Managing Director of The 1:1 Diet said: “We have seen the great work carried out by the NHS across the region, and we felt passionate about showing our support to help staff working tirelessly in care homes locally.

“We were aware of a number of care homes in Corby and we wanted to let them know that they’re doing a fantastic job, providing care for older vulnerable people, during this difficult time. We really hope these care packages go some way to giving them a little extra energy for their long shifts.”

The care homes that have received the donation packs are:

  • Shire Lodge, Corby
  • Glenmoore House Care Home, Corby
  • Seagrave House Care Home, Corby
  • Willowbrook Care Home, Corby
  • Age UK, Northampton

Rachel French, care home manager at Shire Lodge, said: “What a lovely gesture during these very difficult times. Care staff looking after our elderly population are often forgotten about, so it’s nice for us to feel appreciated. Thank you from all of us here!”

Laura White, regional support manager at Seagrave House said: “We would like to say a huge thank you for this kind donation - it’s times like these when deliveries of such kindness boost our morale!”

Alicia Cubitt, volunteers co-ordinator at Age UK Northamptonshire, said: “All at Age UK Northamptonshire would like to extend a massive thank you to The 1:1 Diet by Cambridge Weight Plan for its generous donation. We are working tirelessly to reach clients and those in the community who are the most vulnerable and need essential food items and your donation will help us to do this.”
