I was such a slim teenager and as a young adult wore a dress size 10. I met my husband in 1985, got married and had 2 children. That’s when the pounds started to pile on. I convinced myself the weight gain was because I was a full time mother and had little or no time for myself. I got to the point where I was so ashamed of my body that I started to wear baggy clothes (black) and hoped no one would notice. I could only buy my clothes from plus size shops or from catalogues.

I have tried many diets over the years but nothing worked for me. For 26 years I hated myself and my body. I went on family holidays but never went on the beach or sit by the pool and if I had to I would never wear a swimming costume. It was embarrassing. In Oct 2016 I came across the Cambridge Weight Plan website and found a Consultant close to me. I was shocked when she weighed me for the first time. I was almost 20 stone and I was a dress size 26. So I started the CWP there and then. I started losing weight immediately, I could not believe it - it was so exciting. In 18 weeks I lost 4 stone*

"I was diagnosed diabetic in 2006 and have been taking insulin since 2010. After spending 2 years going down the gym 3 times a week doing cardio, I had only lost a few pounds. My diabetes was really bad - when I attended a group session at the hospital I realised my readings were off the scale compared to everyone else. Even a 70 year old gentleman who had been diabetic for decades had readings that I would have been be proud of. The hospital referred me to 1:1 and gave me Pam's details in December 2018. On 3rd January 2019 I started with Step 4 - to avoid hypos as advised. After 6 months I moved to Step 5 and continued to lose slowly but steadily. 54 weeks later and 3 stones lighter, I was discharged from the hospital last week. How’s this different to other diet plans?
