Just about everyone likes a couscous salad, so we’ve created a fabulous new recipe that delivers great taste with nutritious, whole foods. Not only that, but it’s low in calories too! This makes it perfect for anyone who wants to stay on track with their diet and still enjoy delicious summer food.

Many people will think of a couscous salad as a good meal choice and this is generally true, however, you might be surprised that a typical couscous recipe can pack a lot of calories and carbs. To demonstrate, we’ve compared our product to a popular recipe which we found online*. Here’s what we found…

Our new Step Up® Meal is ready to eat in less than 30 seconds and is made from seven different vegetables. Well, tomatoes are technically a fruit according to botanical science and soy is a bean, but they both count towards your ‘five a day’. The popular recipe has just four. Unlike the popular recipe, ours can be stored in the cupboard at room temperature (although we recommend chilling it) for up to 12 months. It will be there ready and waiting when you might otherwise opt for a high-sugar or fatty meal choice.

Finally, let’s look at the all-important, nutritional info. The popular recipe had over three and a half times the calories per serving (753 versus 213). Also, our recipe had a 50 percent higher proportion of protein, a lower proportion of both carbs and fat and less than one third the salt.

So, if you want a delicious vegetarian summer meal, made with traditional ingredients, packed with vegetables and one which will help keep you on track with your diet, look no further than our Giant Couscous Bean & Tomato Salad Step Up® Meal!
